Boat Captain, Business Owner, Bombastic Host

While staying at Palazzo Versace Hotel in Gold Coast, Australia we had the concierge at the hotel charter us a boat for a day. They contacted David Smallbone, the owner of Club Cruise, LTD and charted the boat from him.

David picked us at Mirina Mirage located behind Palazzo Versace in his 32' luxury express cruiser. Stepping onto the boat (calling it a boat seems like such an understatement) made me remember all the boats I've chartered in the past and this one was by far one of the best (and most affordable).

Even better than the luxury of the boat was David himself. In all the boat charters I've been on, no skipper has come close to the service and hospitality David offered.

Shortly after boarding, David took the time to find out what we wanted the day to be like. Where did we want to go? What did we want to see? Where did we want to go? He then tailored the rest of the day for us; site seeing, swimming on a private beach, a bombastic lunch, fishing and a beautiful cruise as we watched the sun set.

Never once did David rush us or make us feel like we were not in control of the day. He made sure our glasses were always full, that we were never hungry, that the music was perfect and on top of that, he was one knowledgeable guide. We had lots of questions about Gold Coast, Australia and the surrounding areas and David was full of answers and insight.

Our day was perfect. Partly because of the weather, partly because of the beautiful boat, partly because of food and drinks but mainly due our skipper and host, David Smallbone.
