The brand new, five star Kempinski Grand and Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre in Bahrain is made up two hotels in two different towers, the Grand Hotel and Ixir. Both the hotels are connected to the Bahrain City Center Mall, the largest mall in Bahrain. We stayed at the Grand Hotel during its soft opening. The other hotel, Ixir had not started welcoming guests during that time.

Located in the fashionable Seef district in Manama, the Kempinski Bahrain is just a 15 minute drive from the Bahrain International Airport. This hotel provides direct access to Bahrain City Centre Mall, a shopper’s paradise with more than 350 shops, an indoor water park and a 20-cinema complex.

The lobby of Kempinski Bahrain was stunning to say the least. However, it was quite obvious that the hotel was new as the check in process took a whole lot longer than it should have. But, the young lady who checked us in was really warm and kind.

Our Deluxe Room had a modern chic décor. The room was equipped with an in-room safe, walk-in closet, writing desk, LCD TV, high-speed internet access, a mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom featured a bathtub, glass enclosed shower, bathrobes and toiletries from Kempinski. The highlight of the bathroom was the state-of-the-art Smart Glass technology; with a flick of the switch, the glass bathroom walls went from see-through to cloudy, offering total privacy.
The 24-hour room service menu was located on the TV. That is, if you are watching TV and want to view the menu, you have to first stop watching, change the channel and then view the menu, not very user friendly, if you ask me. Sometimes technology is not the answer for everything. The daily housekeeping service was top notch though.

The Saveur at the Grand Hotel is an all-day fine dining restaurant that serves contemporary international cuisine. The live cooking stations are the highlight of this restaurant. The T-Spoon café offers tea and coffee as well as Gerbeaud confectionary. The Mezzanine lounge consists of a high-tech café, bar and a gorgeous lounge. International cuisine is served in this lounge.

The Kempinski Bahrain has a gorgeous outdoor swimming pool. Located on the terrace, this pool is landscaped. The Nasmat pool bar overlooking the pool serves authentic Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails. The Spa at Kempinski Bahrain is equipped with a sauna and Turkish bath/hammam. A state of the art fitness facility is also on offer at the hotel.

A concierge, guest-service team and a business center is available round the clock at Kempinski Bahrain.

Overall, the Kempinski Bahrain offered great amenities in a gorgeous setting. However, the delay during check-in and the not too user-friendly room service menu proved to be a dampener. Our rating for Kempinski Bahrain is Bombastic.
