Al Piccolo Mondo - Brussels, Belgium: Al Piccolo Mondo offers truly authentic Italian dining in a casual, but dark setting.

The food is top notch but unfortunately, service was not. When we arrived, they greeted us like one of the family, very warm and welcoming. It was almost like going home. However, once seated, our waiter was too busy rushing around (I am not sure why, it was not that busy) to provide anything close to good service.

They seated us in the basement, which was dark and dreary, but after the first bite of their homemade pasta, I forgot all about it. The menu is not as extensive as I would have expected or hoped. They had all the basics so I went with one of my favorites, spaghetti arrabiata. The portion was small but the flavor was huge. Authentic Italian is always a hit with me.

The wine list is average at best and their prices are moderate. The only real reason to come to Al Piccolo Mondo is the food itself.

If you are in the mood for great pasta and not concerned about getting great service, having an extensive wine list or a chic and trendy decor, then check out Al Piccolo Mondo.
