Italian Dining at Hotel Amigo

Ristorante Bocconi at Hotel Amigo - Brussels, Belgium: After staying at Hotel Amigo for a few days and getting used to their first class service I had high expectations for their Italian restaurant, Ristorante Bocconi.

We went early one evening for a casual dinner and even though they were busy and we did not have reservations, we were seated right away. That ended up being the easy part.

Once seated, we were promptly given our menus and our drink orders were taken. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, after 15 minutes of just sitting and trying to flag down our waitress I went to the host and asked to have someone come take our order.

After a short wait, our waitress came and took our order, apparently oblivious to the fact we had been sitting for almost twenty minutes waiting to order.

Again, a long wait and then my starter, tomato soup arrived. The soup ended up being nothing more than some watery tomato paste with some basil. It was not impressive at all.

The saving grace of the whole dinner was the linguine with lobster. Delicate lobster over a delicious linguine made the wait and the tomato paste or soup as they called it, worth it all. Would I go back to Ristorante Bocconi? Yes, but only to experience the delectable lobster again.
