The First Impression: Café Vasco Da Gama gave us a feeling of having escaped time and stepped back into the days of groups gathering for a meal and chat in a popular café, discussing the latest news and gossip. The spread of different delicacies displayed around the café, the warmth of Café Vasco Da Gama, the aroma of food and more, definitely made a strong first impression and an inkling of the good food to come.
Décor and Ambience: Walk into Café Vasco Da Gama and the warmth of the place is what strikes you the most. The old rustic Portuguese store counter, the delicious looking displays of food, the curios strewn around the place, the soft tones on the wall, the paintings of sea and exciting voyages, the round top tables and more brings in an ambience that is easy to relax into and feel comfortable in. For respite Café Vasco Da Gama was definitely the place. Now we were left with discovering all about its food.
The Food: The season’s harvest serves as the inspiration point for the menu for Café Vasco Da Gama. The menu changes every day and serves an array of different sandwiches, salads, hot dishes, desserts, the day’s specials and more. Café Vasco Da Gama’s fois gras burger, kalamata olives, grilled chicken sandwich, curry mayo, the salad trio, smoked salmon bagel and more were the popular favorites amongst its customers. The food is always fresh, the meat cooked to perfection, the flavors blending just the right way bringing out the best of aroma and taste in each dish. Café Vasco Da Gama serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and also offers catering services for those looking to indulge in some good food for a special occasion. The bar at Café Vasco Da Gama is pretty well stocked and carries a good selection of beverages to sip on.
The Service: The service was friendly and warm without being suffocating or you being watched through your meal as though you were a convict on the loose. The staff was well trained and knew what was expected of them.
The Calculated Impression: We really had a relaxed and enjoyable meal at Café Vasco Da Gama. The quality of food was exceedingly good and worth the steep prices charged for it; but then again, most restaurants in Montreal pinched the pockets quite a bit.
What I liked: The amazingly delicious food and the quality of it, the décor and ambience and the service at Café Vasco Da Gama.
What I didn’t like: The steep prices for the food.
Rating: Bombastic.
