Ki Sushi has a modern and contemporary décor. This restaurant consists of a bar & lounge area, two raised dining areas, a patio and a sushi bar. The raised dining areas are located on each side of the bar and are surrounded by ponds. Diners can watch the skilled sushi chefs in action at the sushi bar. In addition, three private dining areas were available.

We were at Ki Sushi for an early lunch and still the place was crowded. The lunchtime crowd had a lot of business men and women, which was not surprising at all considering the location. Since it was a rather large restaurant, I expected the quality of the sushi to suffer, but to my pleasant surprise, it didn’t.

The menu had a small yet nice selection of soups, salads, kushiyaki (tidbits on skewers), tempura, nigiri & sashimi, classic and modern makimonons, cold plates and hot plates. A variety of lovely desserts were also available. The drink menu featured an excellent selection of sake and wines by the glass.

My partner and I ordered a number of sushi and sashimi along with an assorted seafood tempura. Surprisingly the sushi and sashimi were very fresh and tasted great. The tempura had the right amount of crispness and texture. All the dishes we tried packed a punch in terms of flavor and freshness.

Service was excellent and our waiter’s recommendations were quite good. Overall, Ki Sushi serves some excellent Japanese fare in a contemporary setting. This restaurant definitely serves some of the best sushi in Toronto. Our rating for Ki Sushi is Bombastic.
