L’ Espresso Bar Mercurio has an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere. This restaurant is lined with floor to ceiling windows, which creates an airy and bright interior. Marble tables and fresh cut flowers add to the minimalist décor of this restaurant. Free Wi-Fi is available here.

We were looking for a decent place to have a quick lunch near Yorkville. Since L’ Espresso Bar Mercurio is a hot spot for brunch, we decided to try this restaurant out. We reached L’ Espresso Bar Mercurio at around 11:30 for lunch and the place was bustling with diners. Since this is a self-serve restaurant, you are given your seat first and then headed to the counter to order. The staff at the counter will give you items such as drinks, pastries and yogurt at the counter itself. Once the food is ready, it will be delivered to your table. The pastry counter displayed a selection of freshly baked goodies such as pastries, croissants and cookies.

We ordered the Angus Burger and Chicken Classic Club. Both were priced on the higher side with the burger costing $10.95 and the club sandwich $10.75. However, after tasting the burger and the sandwich, we decided the price was worth it as both were very fresh and tasty. The Angus Burger was topped with tomato, lettuce and onions and was served on an artisan ciabatta bun with a side of horseradish and hot banana peppers. The Chicken Classic Club consisted of roasted chicken breast, avocado, pancetta, aioli, lettuce and tomato on a multigrain bread.

Service at L’ Espresso Bar Mercurio was friendly and nice. After an hour, we were ready to leave. By then, the place was jam packed. Overall, L’ Espresso Bar Mercurio is a perfect restaurant for a casual, café style lunch. Our rating for this casual restaurant/cafe is Bombastic.

What I liked: The relaxed atmosphere and the fresh food

What I didn’t like: The slightly overpriced food

Rating: Bombastic
