L'unita Italian Restaurant - Toronto, ON: An Italian restaurant, L'unita is located in the former home of the French restaurant Arlequin in Avenue Road, Toronto. This restaurant serves “new” Italian fare made with seasonal local ingredients. “Italian food with a Canadian heart”, that is how the owners love to describe this restaurant.

A traditional Italian osteria & wine bar, L’unita had a gorgeous décor with exposed brick walls, oak wood floors, antique framed mirrors, black lacquered chandeliers, suede banquettes, an old workbench and poster art imported from Italy. This restaurant was dimly lit and light rock music was playing overhead. The rustic wooden tables were set with white tablecloths and candles. There was a marble bar in the front.

We were at this Italian restaurant in Toronto for dinner. We were handed the menu as soon as we were comfortably seated. The menu had a nice selection of Italian dishes. The wine list featured around 500 wines from Italy and Canada. While just one page was devoted to Canadian wines, the rest of the list consisted of Italian wines set by regions of Italy. More than 30 wines were poured by the glass. We were informed by the wait staff that everything is prepared in-house, right from breads, pasta and pizza dough to desserts.

We ordered the Pasta special, Tagliatelle with beef shoulder as our appetizer. Priced at $24.00, this antipasti was simply amazing and provided a perfect start to a memorable evening.

For the main course, I opted for the Pork Loin ($28.00) with turnip. The pork loin was super tender, juicy and tasty and easily one of the best I have had till date.

My partner had ordered braised beef short ribs with spring vegetable slaw, almonds & raisins($28.00). Again, a brilliantly executed dish.

We ended our dinner with Dolce di latte zeppole, sugared Sicilian doughnuts with chocolate and frangelico cream, these alone would be reason enough to dine here! They were Fantastic Bombastic and I am still drooling! A perfect end to a lovely meal.

Service at L’unita was flawless and impeccable. Overall, this Italian restaurant in Toronto serves awesome Italian fare in an elegant yet comfortable setting. Our rating for this restaurant is of course Bombastic!
