A huge curtain at the front of the Salt restaurant blocks out the cold winds. The all wooden dining room is decorated with a couple of chandeliers and candles. The twinkling candles light up the wine bottles and preserves that line the floor-to-ceiling shelves. Small wooden tables and quotations written in chalk on the walls add to the cozy and intimate atmosphere.

We were at Salt since we had heard a lot about the tapas, Portuguese and Spanish offerings at this restaurant. Luckily we had made reservations in advance and hence were seated without much delay. Our server was quite knowledgeable and took time to describe the dishes for us. The wine list was decent and focused mainly on the ones from Spain and Portugal. We sampled a number of tapas plates, artisan cheeses and Iberian charcuterie. All the dishes were delicious to say the least. However, the portions were quite small.

Service at this wine bar in Toronto was attentive and friendly. Also, the wine suggestions from our server were excellent as the wines paired well with the dishes we had ordered.

Overall, Salt restaurant is a lovely and inviting restaurant that serves delicious food with wines to match. The only hiccup was the small portions. Our rating for this wine bar in Toronto is Almost Bombastic.
