A luxury boutique hotel, The Hazelton Hotel in Toronto is located in the heart of the exclusive neighborhood of Yorkville on the corner of Hazelton and Yorkville avenues. This hotel is just steps away from famous art galleries, museums, restaurants and even the luxury shops of Bloor Street.

Built in 2007, The Hazelton is a five star hotel. Internationally renowned Canadian firm Yabu Pushelberg has designed the interiors of this luxurious, high-end hotel. The Hazelton offers 62 rooms and 15 suites equipped with the latest luxury fittings, from iPod docking stations to heated bathroom floors. The suites have an average size of more than 620 square feet and feature 9 foot ceilings.

First Impression/Lobby: I have seen my share of high end and boutique hotels, but the entrance of The Hazelton lobby exuded luxury and class to a level that I rarely see, even in the best hotels in New York, London and Paris.

Reception: Our check-in process was quick and smooth. Before we knew it, we were being escorted to our Junior Suite.

The Suite: Our Junior Suite was spacious starting right from the 50 square feet foyer. The suite sported a Hollywood inspired glittering design which was enhanced by original Canadian artwork and custom designed furnishings. The suite featured a flush mirror-mounted 42" flat screen television screen, I-Pod docking station and DVD/CD player for dual format, refrigerator, mini-bar, coffee and tea making facilities and an in-room safe. The work area was equipped with a high-speed Internet connection and phones with voice mail. French doors open to a less than impressive view, but it was still nice to allow fresh air and light to flood the suite.

The bed, with a Serta presidential pillow top mattress and 300 thread count Italian sheets was backed with leather surrounds and a Tivoli clock radio. The motorized drapes of the suite could be controlled from the bed. The suite also offered a spacious private dressing room made of custom zebrawood millwork with floor-to-ceiling mirrors. The bathroom was a sight to behold with its dark green galaxy granite floor and walls. The bathroom set a new standard in style with its deep soaking tub, separate rainfall shower, LCD television built into the mirror, heated floors, German crafted Dornbracht fixtures and Bvlgari bath amenities.

Room Service: We never took advantage of the Room Service menu. However, we could see a wide variety of options after going through the menu.

Housekeeping: The once daily housekeeping was invisible and executed to perfection, as it should be at a five-star hotel.

Concierge: The Concierge Team at The Hazelton Hotel offered worldwide concierge services. The excellent team provided great dining recommendations and even found a place to fix my glasses late on a Friday afternoon, a sign of truly top notch professionals.

Restaurant: The Hazelton’s ‘ONE’ restaurant by Mark McEwan offers world class cuisine. The restaurant was beautifully appointed in rich wood floors, smoked glass, panels of mirror and high ceilings. A street-level patio is attached to the restaurant. The weekly-changing menu focuses on the best of fresh Ontario produce. This restaurant offers 24-hour room service and priority reservations for hotel guests.

Pool/Spa/Activities: The Hazelton Health Club & Spa is equipped with a full-service spa, an indoor pool, a steam room and a fitness facility. The fitness center features state-of-the-art equipments. Massage therapists and personal trainers are available upon request at the spa and the fitness center respectively.

The Hazelton hotel also offers a business center and a 26-seat luxury movie theater, The Silver Screening Room.

Check-Out: As with everything else at the Hazelton, checking out was performed with class and style. No errors in the bill and polite, professional service. I left with a strong desire for a return trip.

Overall Impression: Overall, The Hazelton was utterly gorgeous and offered first rate service, spacious and luxurious accommodations in a perfect location. In short, everything about The Hazelton was perfect and it get's our highest rating, Fantastic Bombastic!
