V Zatisi Wine Restaurant– Prague, Czech Republic: Located at the Old Town off Betlemska Square, V Zatisi Wine Restaurant is one of the most sought after degustation restaurants in Prague having been named ‘Best restaurant in Prague’ by Gourmet and ‘Best restaurant in Central & Eastern Europe’ by Egon Ronay’s Seagram Guide.

Inside, the restaurant has two dining rooms—one with a more open and cheery atmosphere while the other a more intimate and romantic ambiance. While this restaurant serves high culinary art, the interior is somehow still relaxed and informal owing to its contemporary chic décor, as opposed to a snooty and traditionally uptight feel.

They offer three degustation menus: Bohemian, Zatisi Degustation, and Spring Asparagus Menu. We went with the Bohemian Degustation Menu with wine pairing, which was a great way to experience true Czech dishes and be introduced to Czech wines.

The menu included tender bites of Mead roasted quail and barley risotto;
Traditional Kulajda soup—a sour cream soup with potatoes, mushrooms, dill and quail egg; Beef Tournedos with traditional creamy vegetable sauce, “Svickova,” herbal dumplings and cranberries; and finally, Warm Carmel Gingerbread with raspberry sauce and nut ice cream for dessert.

Service was of one of the finest standards; everything was done impeccably and precisely from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant and shown to our tables up to the time we finished the degustation and left satisfied.

While V Zatisi Wine Restaurant was a great experience, we couldn’t help comparing it with a few other degustation restaurants we have tried in Prague, particularly Bellevue Restaurant and La Degustation Restaurant, both of which were exceptionally amazing and completely blew us away. Overall, V Zatisi comes in as our third favorite degustation restaurant in Prague.

What I liked: Atmosphere, décor, the food

What I didn’t like: There wasn’t anything I did not like, it was a perfect dinner, a perfect evening.

Rating: Bombastic
