Isami Japanese Restaurant – Paris, France: Isami Japanese Restaurant is located in Ile Saint Louis, a busy tourist hotspot. This tiny mom and pop Japanese fast food serves only traditional sushi and sashimi - but only the very best and the very freshest! You can tell that this is a good restaurant from the clientele alone, which is mostly true sushi lovers. The price is expensive, even by Paris standards. The atmosphere is very plain and minimal with just a few wooden tables arranged close together and a no nonsense sushi bar. Clearly, you don’t go here for any other reason than for putting excellent sushi in your mouth.

An old Japanese couple runs the place and their English is not very good at all so expect to do a lot of pointing and gesturing, but it sure is worth it. The staff will never win any awards for service but again, you are here for good sushi. The food is presented in a simple and unadorned way, a welcome respite from the chic and trendy rolls that are the usual in Japanese fusion restaurants.

We had the sashimi plate which included tuna, salmon, octopus, prawns, squid, mackerel, and daurade (sea bream). Everything was silky and delicate and a pure luxury for the taste buds. I also ordered Unagi (eel), which was my absolute favorite.

Isami Japanese Restaurant is simply exquisite and nothing less than Bombastic!

Reservations are a must for Isami, as it is one of the best sushi restaurants in Paris.

What I liked: Sushi and Sashimi

What I didn’t like: A bit pricey

Rating: Bombastic
