L' Arome - Paris, France: Located just blocks from Champs-Elysées in Paris the charming new restaurant, L' Arome.

We made the decision to dine at L'Arome at the last minute and luckily we were still able to get a table. In the future, I recommend that you make reservations because with food and service this good, you may not be so lucky.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was a distinct fishy odor. It was so strong that we almost decided to leave, but instead we decided to stay on the hopes it would be as good as the atmosphere led us to believe it would be.

They seated us at one of the few empty tables available; shortly thereafter, the restaurant was completely full. Apparently they did something right and we were about to find out.

Our waiter came, welcomed us and took our drink orders. He was exactly what you want in a waiter: professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Our dinner started with an offering from the chef, a sardine appetizer, which was good, but because I do not like sardines, went unfinished. However, that did explain the strong fish odor we met upon our arrival.

Dinner continued with Butternut marrow soup with bacon chantilly cream and autumn fruits. I did not think anything could top the soup but then my main dish, Red mullet filets and risotto with cuttlefish ink was delivered and my dinner got even better.

The desert, Bitter chocolate cake with passion sorbet and a beautiful selection of cheeses rounded out this bombastic dinner. Every step along the way service and the fare was supreme.

It is not very often that one finds a restaurant this great at such an affordable price. If you are in Paris and want a fantastic dining experience book a table at L' Arome, you will not be disappointed.
