5 Star Dining at Chateau de la Muire
Restaurant Category : French
Restaurant L'Assiette Champenoise Reims, France: Located in the Champagne Region of France is Chateau de la Muire, home of Restaurant L'Assiette Champenoise, a five-star, fine dining, out of this world restaurant.
We were traveling from Brussels to Paris and based on Hotel Amigo's recommendation, we booked a table for lunch. They told us it was going to be good but that does not even comes close to describing the experience we had there.

We arrived at L'Assiette Champenoise and they greeted us at the front desk and whisked us away to our perfectly placed table, centered in front of a large bay window, with an unobstructed view of the dining room to our left and of the terrace to the right.
Within minutes, the Champagne cart with six varieties of Champagne was wheeled over (do not forget we were in the Champagne Region) and we selected a beautiful rosé. As we enjoyed our wine we reviewed the extensive, extensive wine list, or better yet, call it the wine encyclopedia, it was that large and it was just as intriguing lunch menu.
The lunch menu had both la carte and gastronomic. We decided to go with the gastronomic menu, something I will never regret, except maybe for the extra pounds I am sure I gained that day.
I could have just had the Fromages Phillippe Oliver, a selection of at least a dozen different cheeses and the Delinaison de Gourmandises, a variation of delicacies, or as I liked to call it, a seemingly never-ending parade of desserts and have been more than satisfied. Just look at the lineup of delicacies: two different types of chocolate candies, chocolate covered caramels, lollipops, cotton candy, caramel corn and banana marshmallows and this was even before my trio of chocolate deserts was served. It was unlike anything I have ever seen.
Lunch ended with coffee and cognac in the lounge as we discussed this unbelievable experience.
Reims is about three hours from Belgium or two hours from Paris. If you find yourself in either of these cities and you want an unbelievable dining experience, then book a table at L'Assiette Champenoise. Of course, if you are in the Champagne Region, there is no excuse for missing it; it is a must. Reservations are necessary.
Needless to say, L'Assiette Champenoise gets a Fantastic Bombastic Rating!
