The entrance to Velvet Paris was just like any other restaurant that I didn’t realize it was located inside a hotel. The place had a refined upscale décor with wooden furnishings. Wide windows allowed diners to watch what was happening in the street.

We were at Velvet Paris for lunch. The crowd consisted of a number of local business men and women. This bistro didn’t seem to be frequented by tourists. We were handed the menu as soon as we had settled in. The menu is same for lunch and dinner. A wine menu lists a lovely collection of French wines along with wines from around the world.

After much deliberation, we started our lunch with a marinated salmon, beetroot vinegar and herbs salad, and a sea bream and tuna tartar, guacamole, rocket salad and bread crisps. Both the salads were delicious. For the main course we ordered the monk fish casserole with seasonal vegetables and curry sauce, and the cod fish casserole with artichokes, peppers, olives and chorizo. Both the dishes were served in small, cooking pots. And both were fresh, big on flavors and simply phenomenal. Service at this restaurant was top notch.

Overall, Velvet Paris is a charming restaurant with an elegant yet casual setting. While the service is exemplary, the food is finger licking good. This is definitely a place I would visit again! Our rating for this restaurant is Bombastic.
