A place where “creating steamed Chinese dumplings is not just a technique, but an art”, Din Tai Fung is known to serve some of the best dumplings in Hong Kong and is definitely the place to drop into for a plate of mouthwatering eats. The restaurant founded by Bingyi Yang was listed as the ‘top ten restaurants in the world’ by The New York Times and has gained much such recognition through the years. After visiting their restaurants in Shanghai and Beijing, we were anticipating tasting these delicious dumplings in Hong Kong again.

The First Impression: Din Tai Fung has a very casual setting. The place always sees quite a gathering of people eager to taste the scrumptious dumplings. With rave reviews of the amazing food offered here, luckily we have never had a problem getting seat at any of their restaurants.

Ambience and Décor: The ambience and décor at Din Tai Fung spoke of a casual dining place. With simple wooden tables and chairs, the décor didn’t exude much elegance or grandeur. It was neat, systematic with nice lighting and comfortable seating for a meal and chat. Din Tai Fung was all about the cuisine it offered more than any style or ambiance, which was just fine with me. We were here just for the food!

The Food: The steamed Chinese dumplings were out of the world. The menu offered dumplings, noodles, rice and other appetizers. Reasonably priced, it gave people a chance to try an array of different dishes and each better than the last. We had the special steamed pork dumplings, braised beef brisket noodle soup, spicy shrimp and pork wonton. The food was perfectly cooked and the flavors and aroma blended in just the right proportions making the whole eating experience a gastronomical delight.

The Service: The service at Din Tai Fung was very good. With the staff all fitted with wireless microphone, efficiency apparently ranked quite high in their motto.

The Calculated Impression: We would recommend Din Tai Fung for all those looking for a culinary treat of the best steamed Chinese dumplings in Hong Kong. Out of all the casual restaurants in Hong Kong this served some of the best food and had great value for money.

What I liked: The amazing food , service and value for money.

What I didn’t like: The wait for a table owing it to being so popular and full all the time.

Rating: Bombastic
