Four Seasons Hotel - Jakarta, Indonesia

First Impression/Lobby - Pulling in to the Four Seasons the first thing that struck me was the security at the main gain. I felt as though I was pulling into the most secure place I have ever been. Did I feel safe? Yes, but then I began to wonder, "why all the security?". However, once I walked through the metal detector and into The Four Seasons lobby, I felt right at home. The lobby was the signature Four Seasons lobby. Grand, with beautiful flowers and refined, professional service.

Reception - Checking in at The Four Seasons Hotel in Jakarta was quick and easy. The receptionist was pleasant and welcoming, right on par with the other Four Season Hotels I have stayed at in the past.

The Room - Our room was very large but with a lot of wasted space, and as is common with Four Seasons, the room's decor was scant and nondescript.

Room Service - There is nothing better than getting into your room after a long day on the road and in the air, picking up the phone, calling Room Service, and thirty minutes later, not only getting exactly what you ordered but having what you ordered be even better than you expected. On top of that, service both on the phone and in person was five-star.

Concierge - Dodo, our concierge was great. We were interested in doing a tour of Jakarta and the surrounding area and not knowing where to start, we contacted Dodo, who helped us plan the perfect day. Dodo was knowledgeable, thorough and went above and beyond to make sure our stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta was perfect.

Health Club - The large gym was clean and professionally staffed. Whether you are just looking to do cardio or weights, they have whatever you need. Bikes, treadmills, state of the art equipment and weights.

Restaurant - We booked a table at The Steak House, one of the Four Season Jakarta's two main dinner restaurants. Grace, the restaurant manager, made us feel very welcomed and her staff was attentive and made our dinner completely bombastic. The steaks, their sauces, the soup and the wine, all were top notch. My only complaint is that we were leaving the next day and would not be able to enjoy it again.

Overall Impression - The Four Seasons Jakarta is a nice hotel, one that I would even stay at again, but it just did not reach the level of bombastic. The room's wasted space, boring decor and plain bathroom as well as the hotel's overall depressed feeling just keep it from reaching bombastic.
