Ristorante il Giglio d'Oro - Orvieto, Italy | Restaurant Review
A short drive from Rome.
Restaurant Category : Italian
Ristorante il Giglio d'Oro - Orvieto, Italy - On our drive from Florence to Rome, Luigi, our driver recommended we stop in Orvieto, a small village about 75 miles (121 km) north of Rome to see the Il Duomo and the Museum of Archaeology and Civic Museum (mainly Etruscan artifacts).
The museum was interesting and of course the Duomo was worth the stop but the hidden treasure was Ristorante il Giglio d'Oro.

Located across from the cathedral, Giglio d'Oro offers you a fantastic view, a great wine list, superb service and some of the best food in all of Tuscany, it was bombastic!
We almost missed this dining experience. When we were looking for a place to eat we had to choose between this and the restaurant next it. The place next door was packed so we thought that must be the place to be but Giglio looked so inviting we decided to give it a try and let me tell you we are thrilled that we did. This was a good example of why not to follow the crowds.
Everything about Giglio is perfect. It may be a little more expensive than the place next door but it is definitely worth it.
