Café 74 at Cheongdam-dong in Seoul essentially serves the Korean version of Italian cuisine. This big café has an extensive menu with an enviable wine list and a well-stocked bar. Even ginseng is available at a hefty price.

The décor of Café 74 gives one an authentic French café feel with classic French windows, plants and exquisite flower arrangements. White wrought iron used throughout this Seoul restaurant complements the French décor.

We were in the mood for pasta and the wide selection of the same at this Seoul Restaurant made us quite curious about the quality of the Italian cuisine they would plate up for us. We started off with bowls of Sweet Pumpkin Cream Soup (Zuppa di Zucca) which was priced at 10,000 South Korean won ($9.00 USD). The prices of almost all the items on the menu tended to be on the higher side.

For our main course, I ordered Pasta Vongole which is Spaghettini with fresh clams in white wine sauce. My partner opted for the Arrabbiata which is spaghetti with seafood with hot pepper tomato sauce and crispy scorched rice.

The service at Café 74 was quite attentive. We really enjoyed the good food and the ambience of this Seoul restaurant. Café 74 is one place in Seoul where the Korean version of Italian food can be truly experienced. Overall, my experience at Café 74 was Bombastic.

What I liked: The good food and the extensive wine list

What I didn’t like: The pricing of the dishes

Rating: Bombastic
