Early Bird - Jabriya, Kuwait
American Breakfast in Kuwait!
Restaurant Category : American (Traditional), Breakfast/Brunch
An American restaurant, Early Bird is located in Al Jabriya near the Champion's Gym. This is the second Early Bird restaurant in Kuwait, the first one is at Fahaheel. This American breakfast in Kuwait restaurant is open six days a week from 5am to 3pm. Early Bird is closed on Sundays.
Run by Bianca Simonian from Los Angeles, Early Bird is a small and cosy restaurant. It seats about 15 to 20 diners outside and a handful of diners inside. You should be prepared to wait for a table if you come after 10 AM during weekends. Kuwaiti artist Ghada Al-Kandari’s works were displayed on the wall. This restaurant had a simple yet charming atmosphere.

I had heard a lot about the delicious American breakfast served at Early Bird. We visited Early Bird with friends and had the opportunity to try a few different items. The menu offered a nice selection of breakfast dishes such as pancakes, omelets, sandwiches, French toast and waffles. The restaurant even had a nice children’s menu. According to the menu, Early Bird’s signature dishes were Biscuits & Sausage Gravy, Breakfast “Club” Sandwich and Strawberry Shortcake. A variety of drinks were also available.
We ordered blueberry pancakes, biscuits & sausage gravy, THE Monte Cristo and Bianca’s Breakfast Omelet. I was a bit hesitant about ordering the blueberry pancakes as the pancakes were served with a blueberry sauce instead of fresh blueberries. However, I decided to take the plunge and tried them and surprise, surprise, they were absolutely delicious! Even though the pancakes were served with maple syrup, I didn’t touch it, the blueberry sauce was more than enough for me. Moreover, the pancakes were very FILLING!
The sausage and biscuits were good and almost the same as the ones you get in the US. So if you are really craving sausage and biscuits, the ones here are probably the best in town. I believe Early Bird is about the only place in Kuwait that serves anything similar.
THE Monte Cristo, another of my favorite from back in the States was simply superb. Next up was Bianca’s Breakfast Omelet, an egg white omelet made with turkey ham, spinach, fresh slices of tomato, onion, bell pepper, cilantro and cheese served on wheat toast with a side of roasted potatoes. Again, heavenly! I’ll be trying the Banana Bread French toast during my next trip to this restaurant as I have it on good authority that they are simply divine.
Service was a little bit slow, but our waitress was so cheerful and full of spirit that we easily overlooked this small glitch. Also, the prices were pretty reasonable.
Overall, Early Bird serves a traditional good old American breakfast and is a great (much needed) addition to the Kuwait dining scene. This restaurant is easily one of the best places for an American breakfast in Kuwait. Would I recommend this restaurant? If you are in the mood for a traditional American breakfast, I say it's worth a visit.
