Edo Japanese Restaurant - Kuwait

Chic and Trendy Sushi Restaurant

Edo Japanese Restaurant - Kuwait: Located in Shaab, the Edo Japanese Restaurant is a chic and trendy restaurant frequented by young and hip locals, expatriates, and jet-setting tourists. They serve unique options of sushi rolls, which, while inauthentic, make for interesting combinations. Edo is more a Japanese Fusion-restaurant than an authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant. In other words they are trendy and fashionable, but lack substance.

Still, we enjoyed Edo Restaurant a lot. It was almost as good as Sakura, plus it had more flare and stylish people. We ate outside in the small courtyard, which was a bit noisy but festive. We had the Kyoto Roll—crab, tempura, tuna and mint with ginger and avocado on the outside. It was accented with mint, which gave the roll a unique and refreshing taste. It was delicious! The other roll we ordered, the Dragon Roll—Salmon, tuna, shrimp and ginger—was also mouth-watering! We also tried the Edamame, which was Japanese Boiled Green Soy Beans. It was overcooked and mushy that we didn’t bother to finish it. The salmon and tuna sashimi were extremely fresh and the cuts were very generous.

Service here was very lax and they didn’t seem to be well trained about the food they were serving. They also weren’t warm and welcoming and did their job to the bare minimum.

Edo is a nice option for Japanese in Kuwait, but if you are looking for great food and great service go to Sakura. If you want a chic and trendy atmosphere and a unique option of rolls, then go to Edo. Overall, I rate it somewhere between bombastic and not.
