Kaizen - Maidan Hawally, Kuwait Though there are many great places for sushi in Kuwait, there is one in Maidan Hawally that really piqued my interest. Kaizen in Kuwait may not be the most famous, but sometimes the low-profile ones have the biggest impact. This review is based solely on my experience there.

Kaizen Kuwait is not the most conspicuous of restaurants, it is rather small and if you weren’t looking for it, you’d probably never find it. A friend took me there and after my first visit, I was surprised that I had never heard of it before.

When we arrived, we were the only people there, most likely because not many people know about it (or find it even). As mentioned, the restaurant was pretty small, but it was stylish and was pretty dark which gave the place an exclusive and relaxed feel (it is currently under renovation and will reopen on March 2013. But if you really want to check them out, they now have a new branch open in Avenues Mall).

The menu was extensive and seemed inversely proportional to the restaurant’s size with soups, salads, appetizers, all kinds of rolls, sushi, sashimi, noodles, hot plates, donbori and many more.

Some dishes worth trying:

- Tuna Avocado Salad (Tuna, Crab, Avocado, Cucumber & Lettuce with Spicy Sauce)
- Tempura Roll
- Platter #2: A sushi and sashimi platter consisting of 3 Salmon Nigiri, 3, Ttuna, 3 White Fish, 6 California Roll, 6 Spicy Crab Roll, 6 Tempura Roll, and 4 Veg Makimono. 40 pcs in all for just KD 16.750. A very good deal!

Service was good, but then again we were the only people there!

In all, Kaizen Kuwait may not have the best sushi in Kuwait (those are reserved for pricier alternatives), but for the price here you can’t go wrong. It has good service, a nice cozy ambience, and a cornucopia of choices in its extensive menu. With what I’ve seen here, I rate Kaizen as Almost Bombastic.
