Prime and Toast - Salmiya, Kuwait: Located on the Gulf Road opposite Seef Palace, is the casual dining restaurant Prime and Toast.

I decided to visit this restaurant for breakfast. I was surprised by the wide range of breakfast dishes they had to offer; eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast and waffles, you typically do not find that wide of a selection for breakfast in Kuwait. After much thinking, I ordered a cheese omelet and my friend ordered the farmers omelet.

The service at Prime and Toast was prompt and friendly, but the wait for our breakfast took a long time. Once it did arrive, I realized, it was not worth the wait; I found my omelet to be plain and oily, my friend's omelet had very few vegetables and again it was too oily. At 2 KD (around US $7.50), the farmers omelet was definitely not worth it.

The worst part of my dining experience was when I asked for jam for my toast. The server told me that I had to order the jam separately and that it cost KD 0.250 (almost a dollar; a dollar for a dab of jam?). I had never heard of having to order AND PAY for jam. I have traveled around the world and have eaten breakfast at numerous restaurants; I have never heard of anything so absurd.

My overall opinion of Prime and Toast: Breakfast for two, consisting of two poorly made omelets, two coffees and an orange juice for a total cost of 7 KD (around US $26.00, had I ordered the jam, it would have been $27.00) gets a Not Bombastic rating from me.
