Taal Indian Cuisine - Kuwait

Not Kuwait's Best Indian Restaurant

Taal Indian Cusine - Salmiya, Kuwait: Taal is located at Al-Argan Complex at Al-Beda/Gulf Road, Salmiya.

I visited Taal for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and my first impression when I walked in the door was that it was a beautiful restaurant and I had a very good feeling for what was to come.

I was seated in a booth with a view of the parking lot, not very impressive, but as I looked around, I liked what I saw, that is, until I took a closer look. The closer I looked, the cheaper the restaurant began look. Somehow, plastic flowers on the table do not conjure up class and style.

Decor behind, I was here for the food, not the decorations, so I reviewed the menu. The menu is typical of an Indian restaurant: starters, salads soups, kebabs, meat dishes and a nice selection of vegetarian dishes, and of course, the biryanis and naans.

I placed my order, the Samosa Platter, Chatpati Tawa Machli, a grilled fillet of fish with Indian spices and Paneer Makhni, cottage cheese simmered in tomatoe gravy; and as the dishes were delivered, it was as I had begun to expect, the food tended to be plain and uninspiring.

Service throughout the meal was decent; however, they must not have been very busy as the wait staff tended to hover about five feet away, making for a non-relaxed meal.

Is this a restaurant that I would try again? No. It was not bad, but when there is a great Indian restaurant like Asha's is in town, why bother with mediocre.
