Bijan Bar and Restaurant - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Located just minutes from KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center) Bijan Bar and Restaurant offers a great range of authentic Malay dishes.

Both indoor and outdoor seating are available and with the large windows it gives the restaurant a very open feeling which compliments the wood and bamboo minimalist decor.

The sampler appetizer platter was a good way to be introduced to Malaysian cooking. The main dishes were chicken in a red tomato gravy sauce and a bombastic sea bass in a thick red spiced gravy served with steamed rice and the best asparagus I've had in a very long time.

The wine list was small but since the focus was on Malay cooking I was not too concerned that the wine list only contained a couple dozen red wines and about half as many whites. I was still able to find a nice Chablis.

Service was what one would expect from a Malaysian staff; helpful and kind, welcoming and sincerely happy you were there.

After our dinner here, it was easy to see why it was awarded "Best Malay Restaurant 2004" by Tourism Malaysia.

If you have not tried true Malay cooking, then Bijan Bar and Restaurant is the place for you.
