Page two of Four Seasons Mauritius resort review.

Room Service: We didn’t have trouble with Four Seasons Mauritius’ room service, that is except with their food. We ordered breakfast from room service and they delivered the food on time, but the quality of food was really terrible. I don’t know how a luxury resort could mess up scrambled eggs, but they did! They were awful!

Housekeeping: Housekeeping is one of the little details in making a hotel or resort successful and earn a Bombastic rating but with this detail, the Four Seasons Mauritius failed to impress us. Our requested time for service was ignored as was our request for extra water. If a resort can’t fill special requests like this, then they shouldn’t bother asking! The housekeeping here paled in comparison to Le Touessrok and even behind The Oberoi.

Concierge: When we called the concierge, we were transferred to the reception as the concierge was busy. We left a message but it was never returned which, again, is one of the little details that make the difference between a resort getting a rating of bombastic or a lower rating. On our second call, the concierge answered and attended to our questions and request for directions flawlessly.

Restaurants: Restaurants at Four Seasons Mauritius include the Beau Champ which serves contemporary steaks, Bambou which serves both international and Asian cuisines, Le Club which is located in the golf clubhouse serving a la carte lunch and Acquapazza their Italian restaurant. The Four Seasons Mauritius also offers O-bar, a lounge bar serving wines, spirits, and cocktails.

Overall the food was good, but our experience at Acquapazza left us feeling deflated and disillusioned. We booked in advance (as they recommended), requesting a table at 9 PM. We were told, that wasn’t possible, the only time they had available was 8. We booked it and when we arrived, they place was more than half empty and never came close to filling up. Service was horrendous and the food went from to-die-for good, to so bad we had to return it to the kitchen. Not impressed!

Pool/Spa/Activities: The infinity-edge pool and the California-edge pool were overflowing to each other and had the blue lagoon as the view. The Four Seasons Mauritius also had a lap pool and children’s pool but it was disappointing as there were no adults only pool, unlike in Le Touessrok and The Oberoi.

Other facilities include the spa, health club with lots of fitness equipments, golf course, and tennis courts.

Check-Out: The check-out was perfect and went on smoothly. Our bill was correct and after few minutes, we were on our way.

Overall Impression: Most of the time, the staff didn’t greet us by name and even failed to acknowledge us, unlike Le Touessrok where we were always greeted by name, and the Oberoi where we were at least acknowledged. I lost count of how many times a staff member would walk by us and total ignore us. (Click here to read our review of the Oberoi Resort Mauritius.) The Four Seasons Mauritius had the “big resort” feel which to us is not a positive. Our villa offered little to no privacy. They charged for internet service and lacked an adult pool, unlike their competitors.

On the other hand, the Four Seasons Mauritius offered the most dining options and by far had the best gym, and better beach than the Oberoi.

Compared to Le Touessrok and the Oberoi, Four Seasons Mauritius had more negative points than positives. For us, even though the property was gorgeous and had more dining options, it only garnered a rating of Between Bombastic and Not.
