Six Senses Zighy Bay is located on a secluded bay in the Northern Musandam Peninsula in the Sultanate of Oman. The resort is surrounded by mountains on one side and a sandy beach on the other side.

Zighy Bay is located at a 90 minute drive from Dubai International Airport. The proximity of this resort makes it a perfect location for a quick break from the traffic and crowds of Dubai. The Six Senses Zighy Bay is also ideal for an extended stay to relax and unwind. Click here to see all 71 pictures of the Six Senses at Zighy Bay in Oman.

Six Senses Zighy Bay offers 81 indigenous villa style accommodations with modern amenities. There are thirteen different types of villas to choose from. Each villa has been constructed with Omani-style bricks that provide insulation from the heat during daytime and warmth at night. Every villa is equipped with a private pool, whirlpool bath and a sun deck with loungers.

First Impression/Lobby: We were in Dubai and did the 90 minute drive to Six Senses. Once we reached the main gate of the Six Senses resort, we transferred into the resort’s 4x4 for the scenic drive over the mountain. The drive itself was spectacular and once you reach the top of the mountain you could see the resort spread out down below. The view from the top of the mountain was breathtaking (thankfully, I wasn’t the one driving). The drive down was just as spectacular as the closer we got to the resort, the larger the “village” of Six Senses became. The resort really had the look and feel of an authentic Omani village.

Six Senses offers three different modes of transport to reach Zighy Bay, a scenic drive down from the top of the hill overlooking the bay, a fifteen-minute speedboat trip from the nearby port or a para-glide arrival for those who love action and adventure. If you choose the para-glide arrival, you can literally glide into the resort as a companion passenger with a Six Senses professional para-glider.

Reception: We were warmly greeted by the check-in staff. After the check-in formalities, we were swiftly shown to our Beach Front Pool Villa.

The Suite: Our Beach Front Pool Villa was located directly on the beach and offered a magnificent view of the ocean. The sandy beach was excellent for a barefoot stroll during sunset. With a total area of 247 square meters, the rustic themed villa was spacious and had a separate bedroom and living area. The living area was well appointed with a large daybed and a wine cellar. Both the bedroom and living spaces were fitted with individually controlled air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat panel television with satellite TV channels, home theater systems and an i-pod docking station. The work table was fitted with free Wi-Fi, IDD telephone and a cordless phone.

The bathroom was quite palatial and featured an over-sized bathtub. Our villa at Six Senses also had two outside showers (one off the bedroom, the other off the living room).

However, the focal point of our villa was definitely the heated infinity pool and the adjoining sun-lounge and dining area. Next to the sun-lounge was a traditional Arabic summer house.

Room Service: Service was extremely attentive. The staff did a wonderful job of taking care of our every need. In fact the whole staff at Zighy Bay are worthy of a special mention as they were very professional and always eager to help.

Housekeeping: The housekeeping was excellent, with the daily service executed to perfection.

Concierge: Everything was arranged by our private butler who was assigned to us during our stay. Now we weren’t really here long enough to really test out all his skills, but for our short say at the Six Senses he did a marvellous job.

Restaurants at Six Senses Zighy Bay: Dining on the Sand is a 68 seat restaurant that serves Middle Eastern, Continental and Asian fare. This casual dining restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner.

Senses on the Edge is a stunning restaurant located on a hill top. This restaurant offers international cuisine in the backdrop of spectacular views of the nearby mountains and Zighy Bay. The lounge at Senses on the Edge is named “Drinks on the Edge” and offers signature cocktails and tapas with soft lounge music in the background.

Chill, The Mood Bar had the perfect mood and music and is a must try. Martini Flights, Champagne cocktails, classic and contemporary cocktails are served here. A variety of spirits, liqueurs and wines can also be tried by the glass.

Vinotheque or the wine cellar features a large variety of wines from around the world and also offers regular wine tastings and wine and cheese evenings.

The open air Deli is the perfect place for a light lunch or tea throughout the day. Diners can choose from a selection of paninis, croissants, focaccias and 42 flavors of ice creams and sorbets.

Pool/Spa/Activities: The Six Senses Spa is located in the Zighy Bay mountainside. The spa offers regional and Six Senses signature treatments focused on holistic wellness and rejuvenation. Yoga, meditation, and personal fitness training are available here. The spa consists of nine treatment rooms, a juice bar, two hammams and a traditional Arab market and barber shop.

The resort offers a fully equipped gym with a gym instructor, a central swimming pool, meeting lounge and a library with wireless internet access and a selection of movies, music CDs, DVDs, books and magazines. The poolside service offers gourmet meals, beverages and homemade ice creams. Daily activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, mountain biking, windsurfing, paragliding, water skiing, wake boarding and sunset and dhow cruises are organized by the staff at Six Senses.

Check-Out: Our short stay was over way too fast. At the time for our departure, the checkout process was hassle free and like our stay, was over in no time at all.

Overall Impression: The Six Senses Zighy Bay should be on your must visit list if you are in the Dubai area. This amazing experience is one you will remember for a long, long time as the setting is just out of this world. I am not sure if I would stay a whole week here, as I might get bored after a couple of days. However, for a long weekend break from Dubai or the surrounding areas in the Gulf Region, this place is worth the trip. Overall, our rating for the Six Senses Zighy Bay is Bombastic!
