We had read stellar reviews of this Boracay restaurant on TripAdvisor so we stopped here for a relaxed, quick bite to eat. But because of its prime people-watching location, we ended up ordering a full lunch and spending more time than we originally planned.

The menu was typical of any Italian restaurant with a decent selection of pizza, pasta and fish. The décor, as you would expect of restaurant on the beach, had a basic design inside, and tables and chairs amongst the sand outdoors. It was similar to most every other Boracay restaurant located in the the beach.

Impressed by the sounds of their wood fired pizzas, we ordered a Margherita pizza to share and then to round out our meals, some pasta for me and fish for my partner. What better way to taste a bit of all their offerings.

Our pizza came out, looking delectable, but the taste was more blah than wow. Luckily Aria carried spicy olive oil which we used to give it some flavor.

Next came my penne pasta with chicken in a pink sauce. One bite later, I decided it was bad… a couple bites more and I changed my mind to horrible!

My partner’s Pesce al Cartoccio, a fish steak wrapped in rosemary and herbs, and served with a side of potatoes looked utterly awful and did not taste a whole lot better. We did end up splitting it (I had pushed my pasta to the side) and though we did not thoroughly enjoy it, we did finish it.

Service was fair and on par with a restaurant of its caliber.

From the blah pizza, bad pasta and average fish we give Aria Restaurant in Boracay a rating of Between Bombastic and Not. (The score was mere points from a Not Bombastic rating.)

What I liked: A good spot for people watching.

What I didn’t like: The pasta
