Montjuic El Xalet - Barcelona, Spain - Located near the Olympic Stadium, over looking Barcelona is where you'll find the bombastic Montjuic El Xalet fine dining restaurant. Just as breath taking as the view of Barcelona is the decor and ambiance of the restaurant itself.

Warm salad with Dublin Bay prawns, pears and dried fruits and nuts; and Potato Gnocchi, with Ricotta and Mascarpone soft sauce started our fabulous lunch.

Juice rice with lobster and prawns, Fideuá (noodles with monkfish and prawns, fisherman's style) a Valencian specialty followed. Both dishes were not only unique, they were delicious. Never have I had anything like them before but I hope it's not to long before I have something like them again. Simply delicious.

The wine menu was just as delicious. Great Spanish wines as well as a good selection of international wines. Not being an expert at Spanish wines I went with their recommendation and I am happy I did. Perfect!

The view, the food, the wine were all fantastic.

The service was a not at the level of your fine dining restaurants in Italy or France but it was about as good as I've experienced in Spain.

Overall, this restaurant ranks at the top of my list of great restaurants in Spain with the only real competition I have seen so far being Moo Restaurant at Omm Hotel.
