Blasieholmens Akvarium o Restaurang or B.A.R. is a much sought after seafood restaurant in Stockholm, Sweden. Located at Nybroviken in the heart of Stockholm, reservations are a must at this busy restaurant.

A trendy yet laid-back restaurant, B.A.R. is run by two of Sweden’s award winning chefs, Henrik Norström and Peter Johansson. This restaurant combines local produce and imported specialties to serve quality food at an affordable rate.

We were at B.A.R. for a lunch meeting. The dining room consisted of a big bright room with a rustic décor. The interior was done up in grey and green tones with black exposed lighting. Diners were sitting on window sills, booths and tables. A large display case was kept in the middle of the dining room. Diners could actually go and choose the kind of fish they wanted to eat or just look for lunch/dinner ideas. Although B.A.R. is primarily a seafood restaurant, a variety of vegetarian and meat options were also available.

The menu at B.A.R. offered a selection of moderately priced fish and delicious side dishes. Some of the popular items at this restaurant are fish and seafood stew made from fresh seafood stock, tomato, fennel and garlic; roasted tomatoes and baked sweet corn cobs and shrimp with lemon and aioli. The wine list was rather medium sized. I did not order any wine as I was at this restaurant for a business lunch.

My companion ordered the salsa salad with avocado while I decided to have a Sole with butter potatoes and mushrooms. Both the dishes were delicious and the flavor was outstanding. The rest of our group had ordered a variety of fish. And everybody in our group was satisfied with their dishes. Though nice, service at B.A.R. was sometimes a little absent.

Overall, B.A.R. serves delicious fresh food in a metropolitan environment. This restaurant is perfect for almost every occasion and I would be visiting this restaurant again for sure. Bombastic!
