5 Star Service, Luxury Resort

Four Seasons Koh Samui, Thailand: Located 30 minutes from the Koh Samui International Airport, Four Seasons Koh Samui has the most stunning view of the three Four Seasons I have visited in Thailand so far. Golden Triangle and Chiang Mai were the first two I visited in Thailand.

First Impression: Stunning view, stunning welcome, stunning property. I had a feeling it was going to be a stunning visit.

Reception: The welcome at most five-star and luxury hotels in Thailand is quite similar. Reception greets you with a wet cloth to refresh yourself and cold drink to quench your thirst, but here at Four Seasons Koh Samui, they went one step further and offered you a sincere and warm welcome; the kind that can only come direct from the heart. When it is sincere, you can tell; and here it was sincere. What a beautiful way to start a stay! After a short visit in the lobby area, they drove down the hill to the beach and we walked to our villa and completed the registration there.

The Beachfront Villa: It took numerous calls and e-mails to reserve Beachfront Villa number 910, I still am not sure why they made it so hard to book but in the end, it was worth the hassle.

The beachfront villa, of which there are only two, sits at the end of the beach, just meters from the water. It is the most secluded of the two beachfront villas and it is the one closest to the water as well.

The villa itself is amazing. From the beach, you walk up the staircase to find a large private infinity pool. From there, you walk up a few more stairs to the main deck, which has two, oversized day beds, perfect for relaxing, a small dining table and four chairs, two lounge chairs and back around the corner, an outdoor shower.

The front of the villa is all windows, so from anywhere within the villa you have spectacular views. Walking into the bedroom, the first thing you notice is the stylish colors and beautiful hardwood floors.

The white bed linens contrast against the hardwood floors, and are accented by a unique and tranquil turquoise color. The room is simple, yet very chic.

The bedroom is oversized, with plenty of space to spread out. Off to the side, are the doors leading to the just as oversized bathroom.

The first part of the bathroom really consists of two separate areas, on your left is a sink with a large closet and dressing area and on your right is its duplicate. Further down the bathroom is the private toilet, stand-alone glassed wall shower, and the most amazing part of the bathroom, if not the whole villa, a huge deep soaking tub placed in front of the window giving you an amazing look out to the beach and the water below. It is perfect for relaxing anytime of the day or night; just looking at it made me relax.

The villa is about as simple and as plush as you can get. This is easily one of the Four Seasons most stunning rooms, villas or pavilions that I have ever seen.

Room Service: Room Service at the Four Seasons Koh Samui was perfect. Simply put, there is no room for improvement.

Housekeeping: As with room service, housekeeping at the Four Seasons Koh Samui was immaculate.

Concierge: Because the villa was so beautiful, we barely left it. Since the last thing we wanted to do was leave paradise, we did not take advantage of the concierge services. Based on everything else I had seen at the Four Seasons Koh Samui, I am sure the concierge services would have been exceptional too.

Restaurant: Like the concierge services, we did not take advantage of the restaurants at the Four Seasons Koh Samui. Why leave paradise? However, there are two restaurants at this resort. Lan Tani is where you get a beautiful buffet or la carte breakfast and for lunch and dinner they specialize in Thai and Italian dishes.

Pla Pla is a casual beach side restaurant offering seafood and beautiful views of the ocean.

Overall Impression Four Seasons Koh Samui is a remarkable resort in many respects. The location and views of the ocean are unbeatable. The villas are small jewels just waiting to be discovered. What I think impressed me the most about the Four Seasons Koh Samui, was the people.

At five-star and luxury resorts like this, and especially at the Four Seasons, I meet many people that rise to the level of bombastic. Here at the Four Seasons Koh Samui almost every person I met, reached or surpassed that level. When I decide to return to Thailand for just a pure luxury vacation, Four Seasons Koh Samui will be at the top of my list.
