Five-Star, Luxury - Amazing Sea Views - Bombastic

Trisara Resort Phuket, Thailand: Trisara Resort, which opened in 2004, is 15 minutes from Phuket International Airport. This luxury resort offers privacy in an understated elegance. All of their 39 villas and rooms have stunning views of its private bay and beach and the service is the best I had seen in Phuket.

First Impression: We were picked up from Banyan Tree in a late model Volvo SUV. The driver was outgoing and congenial and made me feel both welcome and excited to see the property. He had cold water and a wet towel waiting for us plus an iPod so I could choose my own music for the drive over to the resort. Was I impressed? Absolutely!

Reception: Making you feel welcomed and special must be part of their training program at Trisara because the reception staff did jus that. After some very heart-felt welcomes, we were given a tour of the resort, and then whisked to our villa where we received a brief tour of the villa and completed the paperwork. They spent just enough time to make sure we were all set but quick enough so we could go enjoy the villa, pool and resort. Perfect!

The Villa: Our Ocean Front Pool Villa is exactly what I would expect from a five-star, luxury resort except for the fact that it was not as close to the beach.

The villa has striking hardwood floors, a tall peaked ceiling, a king size bed that is perfectly located with a clear view of your private infinity plunge pool, windows all around you, making it feel light and airy, just right for this exquisite beach resort.

The long narrow bathroom carries the class of the room just as well. A long couch uniquely separates dual basin sinks. The couch faces the deep soaking tub, which is located at the back of the villa. Beware; sitting there too long will lure you into the tub.

The bathroom is separated by sliding pocket doors located in the wall above the couch; close them and for privacy, or open them to enjoy the view the deck and pool, and the bathroom seemingly quadruples in size.

Room Service: The room service at Trisara is easily the best room service of any of the resorts I visited in Phuket. Not only was the menu wide and varied, the food was full of flavor, perfectly prepared and spiced only the way an expert in Thai cuisine could spice. Service as well was top-notch.

Housekeeping: Perfection! The villa was thoroughly and consistently serviced both at the daily service and at the evening turned out service. It was easy to see that they took pride in their work and animals they created out of the towels, and left at the foot of the bed, put a smile on my face each day. The little things set luxury resorts apart.

Restaurant: because the oceanfront villa was so beautiful and offered such spectacular views. We did not take advantage of all the restaurants at Trisara.

We did schedule a romantic poolside dinner in our villa that did not turn out quite as nice as we had hoped. We got off to a late start and service was spotty throughout the dinner.

Dinner started with an appetizer of sautéed scallops and duck with pair and apples. Both were mouth-wateringly good. Our main courses were steak and duck; the steak was overcooked and the duck was on the dry side. The savior of the dinner was desert; mango with sticky rice and crème brûlée with strawberries, a bite of either and the steak and duck were forgotten.

Based on the food we had from room service, I had expected so much more from this dinner. This is one of the very few disappointments I had at Trisara.

Overall Impression Trisara offers five-star service and luxury accommodations with amazing views. On top of that, because of its small size, you are never treated as a stranger. This is the type of five-star resort that I would return to again and again; there are not many places that can compare.
