Four Seasons Hotel - Istanbul, Turkey - Located at Sultanahmet in the Old City section of Istanbul, sits the marvelous, gorgeous, stunning, one-of-a-kind, Four Seasons Istanbul. With only 65 guest rooms and suites this 5 star, luxury hotel offers unbelievable service in one of the most beautiful hotels I have seen in all of Europe.

First Impression/Lobby: - The outside entrance of the Four Seasons at Sultanahmet does not give a clue to the luxury and style that awaits you inside. Housed in a recently restored old Turkish prison, the lobby area is not as grand as you find at other Four Seasons Hotels. I am not saying that it is not stylish or beautiful, it is just not as grandiose as many other Four Seasons Hotels.

Reception: - In true five-star, Four Seasons fashion, reception was warm and welcoming, registration was fast and efficient. There are many five star and luxury hotels that could learn a few things from the Four Seasons reception staff. Consistently, regardless of the city or the country, make an outstanding
first impression.

The Room: - We booked one of the three, One-Bedroom Deluxe Suites that offered amazing views of the enclosed courtyard below. The suite (#315) is decorated in black, tans and golds and just emphasized the style and beauty the Four Seasons is known for. For a hotel this small, the suite was surprisingly large. A huge living room with two large windows, ample space for a small dining table should choose to dine in the privacy of your own room, a half-bath and a completely separated master bedroom and bathroom makes the suite perfect for entertaining guests or for just spreading out and relaxing.

Room Service: - As with reception, Room Service at the Four Seasons could teach many other 5-star and luxury hotels the meaning of service and presentation. With on-time delivery, 100% accurate orders and mouthwatering meals Room Service carries on the Four Seasons tradition of personal service, style and class.

Pool/Spa/Gym: - The health club is small but has everything you need for a good workout. Keeping in mind the hotel has only 65 rooms it is hard to expect them to have any more than they do. The Spa has two treatment rooms and uses off-site masseurs that come to the hotel by appointment only. There is a nice selection of treatments available but keep in mind this is not a true, full service spa.

Overall Impression - Whether you are in Istanbul for a few days, a week or longer, the Four Seasons at Sultanahmet is the most luxurious, stylish, service oriented hotel in Istanbul. Its location in the Old City is perfect for the days you want to visit the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, to start and end your tours, or if you just want to unwind and relax. The hotel is a special gem of a hotel that gives you the feel of a trendy, boutique hotel but the service and ammenities of a larger 5 star, luxury hotel. No matter what your travel plans are, if you are in Istanbul, the Four Seasons at Sultanahmet is a must, it is easily the best luxury, five-star hotel in Istanbul Turkey.
