A five star resort, Banyan Tree Al Wadi is located at a 20 minute drive from Ras Al Khaimah City Centre and about one hour from Dubai. Saffron serves traditional Thai cuisine and Southeast Asian delicacies. This restaurant is open daily from 6.30 pm to midnight.

Saffron Restaurant overlooks a watering hole in the resort’s nature reserve. Situated on a small valley, this watering hole is frequented by wildlife. Diners at Saffron can watch wildlife activities from the outside patio area. The dining room follows a contemporary dark wood theme and is very cosy. Tables have been set on an ornate curtained four-poster raised dining platform in the middle of the dining area.

The menu at Saffron Restaurant lists a number of popular Thai dishes and includes soups, appetizers, mains and desserts. A number of seafood options are available. A set menu option is also on offer. The main course is served here with four different choices of rice.

I decided to try the restaurant’s signature dish, the green chicken curry. Served with steamed rice, the flavors of this curry were just right and the portion was more than satisfactory. For dessert, I ordered home-made ice cream as there was a selection of flavors to choose from.

Overall, the food at Saffron Restaurant was served on time and tasted great. Service was friendly and attentive. If I was staying at Banyan Tree in Ras Al Khaimah, I would definitely dine here. However, I would not make the hour long drive from Dubai just to visit this restaurant. Our rating for Saffron Restaurant is Between Bombastic and Not.
