Brilliant Italian Restaurant from Start to Finish
Restaurant Category : Italian
Cecconi’s Italian Restaurant - London, England: Located in the Mayfair area of London, Cecconi’s is one of London’s most popular Italian restaurants. Inside is laid back and casual chic with a 1920’s Venice bistro feel. Plush leather green seats and bar stools, classic lamps, ambient lighting, and black and white striped flooring provide an elegant yet relaxing setting. The tables are covered in crisp white linen table cloths and the waiters are dressed in formal black and white. The food is traditional Italian cuisine with innovative and contemporary interpretations, while the crowd is gorgeous, upscale, and at times famous.
We went to Cecconi’s on a Sunday afternoon for a late brunch and the place was absolutely packed. Reservations are an absolute must and in my opinion, if you want the best experience, request a window seat.

The brunch menu is quite varied. Starters include a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, carpaccio breakfast items, soups, pastas and risottos. They also have a nice selection of main courses including salmon, seafood, chicken, lamb, veal and beef. Their salads range from the usual to the extraordinary such as Winter Vegetable, Roast Chicken with saffron, almond and parmesan, and Smoked duck with wild mushrooms, black truffle and pecorino.
We began our brunch with a selection of starters: Aubergine & Goat Cheese Crostini (£5), Calamari Fritti Crostini (£9), and Buffalo Mozzarella with cherry tomato and basil (£9). Everything was extremely fresh, well-prepared and exceptionally delicious. Our favorite had to be the Aubergine & Goat Cheese Crostini. The flavors and textures of this dish were simply impeccable.
For our main dishes we had Spaghetti Lobster (£24)—a bit pricey, but for the amount of lobster they served, I cannot complain; and Pappardelle with Wild Boar Ragu (£11)—I find wild boar to be a bit gamey sometimes, but this wasn't the case here as it was delightful all the way around. Both dishes were undoubtedly fresh, perfectly prepared and full of flavor. It would be hard to choose a favorite, but if pushed to do so I would have to choose the Pappardelle with Wild Boar Ragu, only because it is the more exciting choice.
Portion sizes were more than generous, believe me. You will not leave Cecconi’s hungry for sure. Service throughout brunch was attentive, and never overbearing. The prices were extremely reasonable, especially for London. If you want great Italian food in London in a casual but upscale atmosphere, Cecconi’s is a must. Bombastic!
