My Favorite Hotel in Napa Valley

Bardessono Hotel - Napa Valley, CA - Located in the heart of Yountville, which, by the way, is in the heart of the amazing Napa Valley wine region, is the 62 room, upscale, chic and trendy, luxury Napa Valley hotel, Bardessono Hotel. During our research for our trip to Napa Valley, we had read a lot about Bardessono Hotel and knew it definitely was one that we had to visit while touring the California wine region. We booked our room directly on their hotel website and waited in great anticipation for our three day stay at Bardessono Hotel.

First Impression/Lobby: When we pulled into Bardessono Hotel we were promptly greeted at by the valet/bellman who warmly greeted us, attended to our bags and car and showed us to the small reception and lobby area. If all the service was this genuine and attentive, our stay at Bardessono Hotel in Napa was going to be great.

Reception: The young lady at reception quickly completed our registration and just as quickly escorted us to our suite where she gave us a quick overview of our suite, explaining how some of the features like the automatic blinds and fireplace work, as well as mentioning many of the environmentally friendly aspects of the suite (an underground geothermal system heats and cools the guest rooms, how only salvaged/reclaimed wood was used throughout the whole property, occupancy sensors which control the afore mentioned blinds and solar panels to generate electricity to name a few).

The Suite: Our suite, a Tufa Spa-Suite (#101), was simply perfect. Other than not having a view, there was nothing I would have changed about it. It made a perfect home during our tour of Napa Valley.

Located on the first floor (Bardessono has rooms on just two floors), our suite opened into a small foyer with the massive bathroom to the left and a large living room on the right. The bedroom was located behind a partial wall which separated the two rooms.

The décor of our Bardessono suite was bright and fresh, chic and trendy; and pure class and style, all in one. The taupe tiles floors set the understated mood for the suite. A dark greenish/blue couch, and taupe side chair and second couch, this a comforting medium brown, made up the living room. The taupe-tiled wall that separated the living room and bedroom had a see-through fireplace and a large, flat-screen TV. Its cool feel was off-set by a large bank of window’s that let tons of natural daylight in to flood the room.

Around the corner from was the large, sparsely decorated bedroom which had just the king white covered bed, two small nightstands and a huge picture of plush vineyards hung over the bed. The dividing wall, again in the cool taupe tile, housed another flat-screen TV and the see-through fireplace.

Outside the living room was a small, semi-private patio which offered two chairs and stools for relaxing, and another two chairs and a small table for dining. The patio also had an outdoor shower. However, I think from the neighbor’s vantage point next door on the second level, they could into the shower; so I whether to use it comes down to how brave or adventurous you are!

The bathroom, which can be accessed either from the patio or from the foyer, was massive. It had a large walk-in shower which doubled as a steam room, a deep, deep soaking Jacuzzi tub, private toilet stall, dual sinks and ample closet and storage rooms.

Room Service: The room service menu at Bardessono, while small, did offer a nice selection of fresh sounding dishes. But, with that said, with so many great restaurants in Yountville and Napa Valley, we just could not justify dining in our room. We did, however, dine in Bardessono’s restaurants, and since the food comes from the same kitchen, I would assume the quality and taste of the food would not leave you disappointed.

Housekeeping: The housekeeping at Bardessono Hotel in Napa Valley was stellar. The rooms were perfectly tended to and were consistently serviced without ever “bothering” us to see when they could have access to the room. Invisible service like that is a hallmark of a true luxury hotel.

Concierge: Special requests were handled effortlessly and their recommendations for lunch and dinner in Napa Valley were spot-on delicious.

Restaurant: The bar and restaurant at Napa Valley’s Bardessono Hotel impressed my eyes as much as they impressed our taste buds. Both were impeccably designed and oozed California cool and comfort. The food in the restaurant was fresh and impressive. The drinks in the bar were just as tasty. Service though in both faltered a bit, compared to every other area of Bardessono Hotel.

Pool/Spa/Activities: The pool at Bardessono is located on a rooftop, and as you would expect from a hotel in the gorgeous Napa Valley, it offers stunning views of the surrounding vineyards. The pool area has private cabanas, endless lounge chairs and a small dining area; everything a person needs to relax at the end of, or instead of a day of wine tasting in Napa Valley.

Check-Out: Sadly, the day had come that we had to leave so that we could move to another hotel in Napa Valley we wanted to review. Had it not been for that, we would have loved to spend every day of our visit and wine tour in Napa Valley at Bardessono Hotel. Our check-out was, as we had come to expect at Bardessono, quick and flawless. Our bill was correct, our bags quickly retrieved and place in our just as quickly retrieved rental car.

Overall Impression Our stay at Bardessono in Napa Valley was bombastic, the room was bombastic, the service bombastic; easily put our stay at Bardessono was perfect. There were just a few areas (service in the restaurant, bar and pool area) that kept Bardessono from getting our highest rating. The still come in with an impressive and highly coveted rating of bombastic!
