Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine – San Diego, CA: Offering a seaside locale just minutes away from the beaches, popular restaurants, galleries, shopping and attractions, the Hyatt La Jolla is one of those rare hotels where convenience melds with luxury. But does it deserve a Bombastic rating?

Upon checking in, we found our suite to be sufficiently large though it could use a little bit of maintenance here and there. Signs of wear and tear can be gleaned from the stains in the carpet, chairs and couch, and the walls were peppered with scratches. Service was very professional, though it lacked some warmth. However, given its ideal location and nice variety of dining options, I don’t think you would go wrong staying here. A safe bet to be sure, but not the best bet.

The Hyatt La Jolla ranks just short of Bombastic given its rather mediocre maintenance and service. However, its decent location and accessibility to local hotspots makes up for it. In all, we give it a rating of Almost Bombastic.
