JRDN Restaurant at Tower 23 Hotel – San Diego, California: Sunny San Diego is one of my favorite places in the United States not only because of the year-round warm weather, but also because of the gorgeous East meets West fusion cuisine that seems to be the heart and soul of hip new Californian dishes.

We decided to try out JRDN over at Tower 23 Hotel (a chic and trendy hotel) which boasts of an impressive array of contemporary Asian and European cuisine with good old American steak sensibilities. Upon our arrival, we were treated to an exciting and vibrant dining ambiance as our server led us to our table. Their menu had a fascinating selection of traditional dishes served in the restaurant’s own style. For starters, I had the JRDN salad (made according to my personal specifications) and some steamed mussels and chorizos in herb butter and chardonnay. It’s rare that I get the chance to pick out exactly what I want in a salad, and the mussels were superb, if not extremely interesting!

For our main course, I had my favorite rack of lamb which came with some feta cheese. I honestly believe that a truly high-class restaurant will never serve a mediocre lamb dish, and JRDN really steps up with this meal. The restaurant has a great selection of wines and spirits, as well.

JRDN is just one of those restaurants where you can’t go wrong. Although I didn’t get a chance to sample their Sushi Bar, judging from our dinner I can certainly say that the restaurant serves great food all around coupled with fantastic service in an invigorating ambiance. Bombastic!
