Koi has four dining rooms, a patio with a fireplace, a lounge and a sushi bar. Illuminated by candlelight, this restaurant has a chic Asian theme that is accented by earth-toned colors, dark-wood beams, bamboo, Buddha statues and waterscapes. The gorgeous Asian décor and sushi are the main draws at Koi.

The menu at Koi sushi offered an extensive selection of sushi along with a dinner and dessert menu. The dinner menu was divided into soups, salads, cold dishes, hot dishes, tempura and sides. The dessert list had a nice selection as well. Some of the signature dishes at Koi sushi are Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, Baked Crab Roll, miso bronzed black cod and Kobe style filet mignon “Toban-Yaki”. A selection of champagne, sake and wine are also served at this restaurant.

We went all out and ordered a variety of rolls. Surprisingly, all the rolls were fresh tasting and full of flavor. The only complaint we had was that the sashimi was thinly sliced. When we checked this with our waiter, he said that this is how the customers at Koi sushi like their sashimi. I really couldn’t believe this explanation as the sashimi was thinner than a pencil!

Service at Koi sushi was horrible. In fact, there were issues even after a manager (who was full of attitude) got involved.

Overall, Koi serves great sushi and Japanese cuisine in a gorgeous Asian setting. It is the small portions of sashimi combined with the horrible service that has kept Koi from receiving a Bombastic rating. Our rating for Koi is Almost Bombastic.
