First Impression/Lobby: The lobby at Mandarin Oriental was elegant and decorated with taste. The tones of cream, brown, gold and hints of pink fused beautifully together and created a rich atmosphere. The round ceiling with lights brought out the sheen of the flowers and walls. The curios displayed around gave impression of an oriental décor.

Reception: We were greeted warmly by the staff at the Mandarin Oriental. The check-in was swift and didn’t keep us waiting.

The Suite: We had booked the Dynasty Suite at the Mandarin Oriental . The room was beautiful and decorated with a distinct Asian flair. Rich golden curtains, a beige couch, gold side chairs and typical Oriental prints decorating the walls were the prominent features of the room. The living room was a bit on the narrow side and fitted with a work desk, a small flat screen TV and three windows which offered a fabulous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The bedroom was large with a soft king-sized bed and an end table. A small day bed was placed in front of a window. The room also had a flat screen TV and plenty of closet space. The room had beige carpeting and the windows brought in a lot of light giving it a warm welcoming look. Our suite at the Mandarin Oriental had two bathrooms. The one off the living room was spacious and luxurious done up in brown and beige marble with a stand-alone shower, a bathtub and a single sink and toilet. It also had large closets with a lot of space for storage. The other, located off the bedroom, was similar in décor but had a shower/tub combo instead of a stand-alone shower.

Room Service: The room service at Mandarin Oriental was efficient and deft. Our orders were catered to professionally and on time.

Housekeeping: The housekeeping at Mandarin Oriental was tip-top. The rooms were well maintained and service was efficient and not intrusive.

Concierge: The concierge service was quite good with the staff knowledgeable about the city and its offerings.

Restaurant: There were two places within the hotel to go for a drink or a meal. Silks, a popular restaurant in the city, offers Pacific and American cuisine to all those looking for a meal. The MO Bar offers afternoon tea and cocktails and light eats.

Check-Out: The check-out at Mandarin Oriental went smoothly and left us pleased with the service and its functioning.

Overall Impression: The Mandarin Oriental left us favorably impressed with its service and offerings. Right from food, to the décor and more were all well organized and executed. We rate it Bombastic and it is definitely a place we would come back to.
