Roof Bar at The Wit Hotel – Chicago, IL: Touted as one of the best rooftop bars in the world, the 7,000-square-feet of indoor and outdoor space on the 27th floor of the Wit Hotel offers an exhilarating view of the Chicago skyline and other surrounding city views, which you can further see clearly courtesy of a telescope situated in one corner. The expansive outdoor space is partially enclosed by glass walls which can keep guests warm into early winter. Another cool feature of ROOF Bar Chicago is the Hangover, which is a private spot cantilevered over the side of the building. This uber trendy place is the perfect destination if you want to grab drinks (prepared by a Mixologist no less) and also take pleasure in the spectacular scene.

We stopped by at ROOF Bar Chicago on our way to dinner for a quick drink. It was a weekday evening and was packed with young professionals eager to cool off after a busy day at the office. The atmosphere was really great. The roaring fire pits, the live music and the city lights all added to the ambience of the whole place. It was a beautiful picture of Chicago’s urban lifestyle.




The service was pretty good. The waiters were attentive and accommodating. However, when a rain storm rolled in, it turned into a madhouse. Everyone was rushing inside to seek for cover. How unfortunate that an uncontrolled turn of events ruined a perfectly smooth experience. Not that the staff were to blame, but nature really does have a way of diminishing the overall greatness of something. In this case, issues like rain can dampen the world class outdoor set-up of ROOF Bar Chicago.

Still, people will go to ROOF Bar Chicago for its scenic views even just for a quick drink or two.

What I liked: The great atmosphere and the scenic view

What I didn’t like: Rushing inside because of the rain storm
