St. Regis Bal Harbour - Miami, FL: Located on the shores of the Atlantic on Miami Beach, the new St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort was to be our home for a few days.

St. Regis Bal Harbour opened in 2012 and has already won a bevy of awards and accolades, including the coveted AAA Five-Diamond award for 2012. With 243 rooms and suites, all with panoramic views of the ocean, we were anxious to give St. Regis Bal Harbour a try.

First Impression/Lobby: We arrived at St. Regis Bal Harbour via taxi from the airport. It took about 35 minutes in afternoon traffic. As soon as we arrived we were quickly met at the car, our bags were unloaded and readied for transfer to our room, and we were escorted to reception.

The entrance was grand, yet not over the top. Soaring ceilings and beveled mirrored walls made it ultra-impressive.

Reception: Once seated at the reception desk, we were offered chilled glasses of Champagne and cool, wet towels to refresh ourselves. To say we were treated like royalty would be an overstatement, but not by much!

We quickly completed the necessary paperwork and were then escorted to our Jr. Suite located on the 24th floor.

The Suite: Our Junior Suite at St. Regis Bal Harbour was in two words, stunning and exquisite. At about 675 square feet, it had a small kitchenette, large marbled bathroom, huge bedroom with small sitting area, and a gorgeous view of the ocean, plus a large balcony with two lounge chairs and a small table with two chairs perfect for ala carte dining or a late afternoon drink.

Our suite was easily one of the most stylish and impressive suites we’ve had the pleasure of staying in, in a very long time.

Plush linens and towels, free Wi-Fi, the elegant decor and the amazing view earned our Jr. Suite a score of Bombastic!

Room Service: We ordered from in-room dining on two occasions. They were consistent in delivering our orders late, but were also consistent in setting up an impressive display. The quality of the food was always fresh; however the taste of breakfast on our second day was not up to St. Regis standards.

Housekeeping: The housekeeping service at St. Regis Bal Harbour was amazing. That is except for the second day when the iron and ironing board were left out after the morning service. Aside from that, the room was spotless with our clothes folded and shoes aligned perfectly.

Concierge: The concierge staff at St. Regis Bal Harbour were professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Everything a top-notch concierge should be. Kudos to them!

Restaurants: St. Regis Bal Harbour offers a variety of dining venues including:
Atlantico for breakfast offering both local and international dishes.
J&G Grill a contemporary bar and grill serving brunch, lunch and diner.
Fresco Beach Bar & Grill offers light dishes like salads to more fulfilling options like fish to burgers.
St. Regis Bar & Wine Vault serves small plates and nibbles and some of the best drinks and wine in Miami.

With just two short days in St. Regis Bal Harbour we only had the chance to try their bar. We shared a small plate of grilled octopus and a small pizza. Both dishes were perfect and the service… first rate!

Pool/Spa/Activities: In addition to the dazzling white beachfront, St. Regis Bal Harbour offers a both an adult pool and a main pool for use by their younger guests. Plus, to make the most of your stay you can book one of their cabanas or day villas (a 600 square feet cabana and private outdoor lounge area). Pure bliss!

The St. Regis Bal Harbour also offers a full service spa, Remede Spa, as well as a full athletic facility and an array of children’s activities.

St. Regis Bal Harbour is a true resort in the heart of Miami.

Check-Out: We reviewed our bill on our TV screen prior to leaving our suite and called reception about two charges we didn’t think belonged. She said she would “look into it” and get back to us, but she never did.

When we went down to check out about 30 minutes later she still had not had a chance to get the answers. Another 15 minutes of trying to get the charges verified went by and we finally got an answer to one of charges. With not much time left to get to the airport, we told her to just complete the check out and we would need to look into it later.

It always amazes me how the check-out, pretty much the last impression a hotel can give you, can be so disorganized and slow to respond.

Overall Impression: St. Regis Bal Harbour is definitely a gem of a resort. Sure, there were a few small service issues, but overall, the resort is a definite must visit when in Miami. Spectacular facilities and a gorgeous view give St. Regis Bal Harbour a rating of Bombastic!
