Singapore Airlines - Singapore to Melbourne - Flight SQ 227 - After our stay in the first class lounge at the Singapore Airport I was a little concerned as to what might lay ahead. I had heard so many good things about Singapore Airlines but my experience in the lounge left me craving the service and ambiance that I had heard so much about. (Click here to read our Singapore hotel and restaurant reviews and click here to read our Melbourne hotel reviews.)

However, the minute I stepped on board I knew I was in for a flight of a lifetime. Not only did the flight attendant show me to my seat, he took my carry on and stowed it away for me. That has NEVER happened before.

As I got settled in I had another flight attendant bring me my amenities bag, complete with Ferragamo cologne and shortly after that, Givenchy pajamas, slippers and then to top it all off she brought me a blanket, opened it and covered me up. Wow, what service!!!!! Simply, Bombastic.

When time came to change in to my pajamas, she opened them and then escorted me back to the restroom once it became available. After changing she whisked my clothes away to be hung in the closet, again, bombastic.

Did I mention the Champagne yet? Dom Perignon or Krug, the choice was mine. From minutes after I boarded the Champagne flowed. On what other airline can you choose from two of the best Champagne in the world?

Dinner orders were taken before we left the ground. The menu was extensive as I have seen on any airline.

I chose the grilled double cut pork chop served with Burgundy wine sauce, buttered broccoli and garlic flavored mashed potatoes, however they did not measure up to the level of the rest of the experience.

The entertainment system was a state-of-the-art, on-demand video (watch what you want, when you want) and music system with a large 28" screen that made for great viewing, almost like being at home.

The seats were large, easy to use, very comfortable and most importantly reclined into a totally flat bed. And talking about beds... when it came time to turn in for the evening the flight attendants made the bed into an actual bed, complete with down comforter and pillows. Tucked away in my own cocoon of comfort I slept as if I was in one of the Westin's heavenly beds.

I have flown with many different airlines and none has even come close to Singapore Airlines. I now see why it is consistently rated number one in Travel and Leisure and Conde' Nast Travel.

If you ever have the chance to try Singapore Airlines, I highly recommend it. It will be an experience you will not soon forget.
