Lufthansa Business Class Lounge - Detroit (DTW), MI - The Lufthansa Business Class Lounge at Detroit International Airport is located between gates 7 & 8 in the North Terminal. This nonsmoking lounge is open from 5:00 am to 6:30 pm Monday through Sunday and is available to select travelers upon invitation or with selected frequent flyer programs.

As you enter the Lufthansa lounge, the Business Class Lounge is to the left, while the First Class Lounge is located to the right. There is not much of a difference between these two lounges. On a busy day, both of these fill up quickly.

At times the lounge might not appear to be open even during its scheduled time. The lounge authorities usually put a sign out front when the lounge is open. But from my experience this happens mostly when there is an actual Lufthansa or international United flight. However, I have dropped in a few times when the sign was not present outside and guests were being welcomed into the Business Lounge section.

The Lufthansa Business Class Lounge has a modern décor and features a large window that lets in some natural daylight. The lounge is comfortable and equipped with about 20 large dark blue leather chairs, a hand full of small tables and chairs for eating and a couple of restrooms to freshen up. Both local and international newspapers and magazines are available. The business center is small and offers two computers, copy and fax machine and free Wi-Fi. A couple of televisions were playing CNN without volume.

The Lufthansa Business Class Lounge offers complimentary cereal, cheese and crackers in the morning while sandwiches and some fruit are served in the afternoon and evening. Complimentary wine, beer and drinks like Bombay Gin, Stolichnaya Vodka, Jim Beam Whiskey are also available. Soft drinks and beer are stocked in a cooler. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The Lufthansa Business Class Lounge is open to Lufthansa’s Senator, Business Class, First Class and Frequent Traveler passengers. Members of United Red Carpet Club, US Airways Club, Continental Presidents Club and Star Alliance Gold can also access this lounge.
The Lufthansa Business Class Lounge is never too crowded as there is only one Lufthansa flight out of the North Terminal. In fact, every time I’ve been in the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge for United domestic or with airlines other than United or Lufthansa, it has been very quiet. However, when I was here on a Lufthansa International flight, it was quite busy. I have also used this lounge when flying on Royal Jordanian (I received my invitation to the lounge when I checked in) from Detroit to Amman, Jordan.
Overall, while the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge is not a Bombastic lounge, it offers just enough facilities to make it a nice respite from the main waiting areas.
