Qatar Airways First Class Lounge - Doha, Qatar

Not as Good as Lufthansa's Lounge, but Still Bombastic!

Qatar Airways First Class Lounge - Doha, Qatar: It was a confusing transfer from the airplane to the Premium terminal where the Qatar Airways First Class Lounge was located, as the bus operator made no announcements whatsoever. It was not made clear to us where and when we should get off. We ended up getting off the bus at the arrivals terminal and had to walk a long way to get to the Qatar Airways First Class Lounge. We found out later that we should have stayed on the bus as it only makes a stop at arrivals and continues on to the actual terminal, but we weren't informed about this beforehand. Upon clearing with security, we were directed to the lounge and were immediately pleased with the relaxing and plush ambiance. Wood was predominantly used in the interiors, complemented with beige and maroon furniture. Glass doors and minimal lamps provided a clean and sleek touch. Plants and orchids were beautifully arranged on select tables, giving the room a lovely and inviting feeling. Bathrooms were tiled with marble and were immaculately clean.

The friendly staff showed us to our seats and immediately offered refreshments. We only had a short layover in Doha, just long enough for us to have a quick drink and snack, check our e-mails, and use the restrooms. The selection of food was substantial enough with a variety of snacks and actual main dishes, as well as premium drinks and spirits.

We ordered some cream of mushroom soup and a chicken curry and found it extremely satisfying especially considering it was "airport food". We also had Champagne, which was served warm and was unappealing, matching the Champagne served on board the plane as we would soon find out.

When we left, we were able to catch the bus at the terminal and were transferred directly to the plane. Should we have gotten off the right terminal in the first place, we would have enjoyed an extra 20 minutes in the lounge. As it were, we weren't able to fully explore the lounge but did have a good and relaxing time. Despite the mishaps, my rating for the Qatar Airways First Class Lounge is Bombastic.

What I liked: Service, food, ambiance

What I didn't like: Confusing transfer, warm Champagne
